MALICE MIZER-Beast of Blood

Beast of Blood by MALICE MIZER

Beast of Blood by MALICE MIZER

1. Beast of Blood

2. Baptism of Blood

3. Beast of Blood (Instrumental)

Released on June 21, 2001 as MALICE MIZER’s fifth single of the Klaha Era.

10360493Beast of Blood is obviously a dark song, really to be honest I had no idea Klaha was singing in Engrish for most of this… It really seemed to sound like Japanese or his own made-up language. It is the second to the last single MALICE MIZER made before their “hiatus”, this single was also released on the anniversary of their drummer’s death, Kami-sama (R.I.P). Like the title claims this is definitely another song about vampires, Mana-sama liked to write these kinds of songs for Klaha due to the sound of his voice. Beast of Blood is really about having a vampire or some sort of beast within having a strong desire for blood, craving it limitlessly and not feeling any fear or sadness about letting all the blood spill from the victims. XD As twisted and heartless as that sounds it is amazing catchy, at first it sounds like Bach made a guest appearance but all and all it has great sound adding to the beast theme. One of the best tracks in the Klaha era, and is another surprise MALICE MIZER gave to us, yes this song is kind of unexpected… I enjoy that fact very much.

Baptism of Blood follows the same track as Beast of Blood left off on.. XD Again this whole song is in pure HARDCORE Engrish, I can’t really decipher what Klaha is trying to say but I really am mishearing him. Baptism of Blood is also about letting desire come over you and the beast within shall make more blood spill as a ceremony. How dark and creepy, I wonder how depressed Mana-sama was when he wrote this.. It is a little frightening to see from him. Mostly this song is actually yell/talking, with a Schwarz Stein type of beat forming in the background which actually makes it more interesting to listen to. At the end a strange sound of garbage can or somebeastofblood4thing is making a heartbeat noise, which really does add on the creepy effect of the song. I dislike this song/non-song, it isn’t long at all and it is still a lot like Beast of Blood and the Engrish was annoying to me. XD

To my surprise, my version of this single had a “Secret Track” on it.. I have no idea what the real title of the instrumental is, since it is titled “Secret Track”..XD It is about 6 minutes long and a beautiful piece to listen to, unfortunately I got bored after 3 minutes.. I still love there is another extra track here.

3 out 5

Beast of Blood could have really been better without Baptism of Blood being EXACTLY THE SAME as Beast if Blood.. >:I Although it does have that factor, I really enjoyed this single. It is dark and lively, in which is always a plus. Still, they could have done something more with Baptism of Blood, and kind of changed the theme or something to make it as great as Beast of Blood. That would definitely make a huge difference for this single.

Vidoll-Puzzle ring

Puzzle Ring by Vidoll

Puzzle ring by Vidoll

1. Puzzle ring

2. Nausea

3. Gaga Syrup

Released on February 18, 2009 as Vidoll’s 26th single.

puzzle_ringPuzzle ring was my very first song by Vidoll and I instantly fell in love with them after seeing the PV along with this song. This is a beautiful song, you’d think with the title and the beginning scene of the PV that this song would be all about sex.. It isn’t, this song is about trying to find the one you truly love and not being separated by the odds that get in the way and to deal with thoses odds as one. So, basically Vidoll is making a similie and a symbol. The puzzle ring symbolizes a strong bond between two people in love. Once a puzzle ring is pulled apart from one another, the two people seem to be separated and no longer a strong bond. That makes this song even more deep, the way Jui sings makes it feel like he is hurt by the separation which makes the sound of the song… A little off, the intro sounds right but the after the first chorus the song begins to become upbeat, maybe he is expressing their separation is over? The only slow and prom-sounding slow dance parts occur in the chorus, all the rest of the song is beautifully upbeat and fun. A great intro to a single, honestly this is their best song yet.

Vidoll-MakingofPuzzleRingPVBarks-1While Puzzle ring is sweet and slow, Nausea is fast and sounds.. like barf. XD Actually this song refers to how people make Jui ill because they underestimate him and he wants know why that is. Nausea is a hardcore rock song, with the hardcore screaming.. Which makes this song even more enjoyable to me, but I’m just wondering why the hell would you put a love song with a angry yelly song together on a single >:I That makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. Still this song is also as great as Puzzle ring, dark and lively also really catchy after the second or third time. *listening to it on repeat* Jui doesn’t sound at all pissed in this song, which makes me a little iffy on it, since this song is about him against the world literally. The guy yelling in the background sounds pissed as hell like someone ate the last piece of pie, which does make up for Jui’s lack of emotions. He sounds THE SAME…EVERYTIME. Can’t he be like Kanon and change the tone of his voice to match the song?

love loveGaga Syrup sounds like Jui went to Lady GaGa’s house, murdered her and used her blood for his breakfast of pancakes..Gaga Syrup meaning addictive syrup, is about how Jui goes into the deep woods to find spring and runs into a woman who gives him this delicious red fruit once he gets the fruit he becomes addicted to it and decides to stay where he is at. Losing all reason to move forward from that spot, only wishing for a perfect world in which he lost his innocence to the nectar. Wow, deep and sounds familiar kind of like the Bible and the Forbidden Fruit in the Garden of Eden. As strange as the summary of the lyrics sound along with its title, this song begins out hardcore like Nausea and turns into another rock song. Which is why I’m still wondering why these songs are together on this single.. Within the song they managed to put in a violin adding more a darker and deep effect to the song, this song all around with its  lyrics and hard rock this song was intended for it. Gaga Syrup is strange and some parts in the song are rather boring, but it is another experiment for Vidoll as well I actually like this song. It does grow on you, if you don’t like it at first listen to it again. XD

3 out of 5

I find this single an odd combo of the Bible, Vomit and Love.. wow the greatest things all together on one single, now I understand Jui’s thinking.. XD Honestly, this is an interesting single which is fun to listen to, although some songs could have more beat than boring.

GACKT-小悪魔ヘヴン

小悪魔ヘヴン by GACKT

小悪魔ヘヴン by GACKT

1. 小悪魔ヘヴン

2. My Father’s Day

3. 小悪魔ヘヴン (Instrumental)

4. My Father’s Day (Instrumental)

Released on July 10, 2009 as GACKT’s 31st single and the first of the four of his 10th Anniversary singles.

200px-Koakuma_heaven_dears_only小悪魔ヘヴン is a weird single to release on a 10th anniversary, but it is a change for GACKT. He has kind of sticked to mainly rock music, now he is adding more to work with. 小悪魔ヘヴン sounds strange with tech noises playing in the background, but I find it catchy and really fun to listen to. The interesting part about this song is that GACKT is singing in a woman’s perspective and this song happens to be even more perverted than his trademark song “Vanilla”.  He is making fun of the girls who appear in the popular Japanese magazine, “Koakuma Ageha” which means “Little Devil Butterfly”. That is why he dressed in that way on the cover with all those girls who look like the girls from the magazine. The lyrics are strange in this song, no one really knows if he is for or against these girls. Even though this song already as a bad reputation the internet XD, I really enjoy all the noises and fun instruments GACKT has arranged in it, even how he changed his voice to match the sound of the music. Very upbeat with brass and strings into one with a side of pop, great changes.

My Father’s Day is for Ogata Ken, father figure GACKT had while working on Furin Kazan. He wrote this after his death in October of 2008, some people think it’s actually for his real father but truly it is a memorial. I find this sweet that he wrote this for Ogata-san, GACKT has lost many people he was close to in the past like Kami-sama from MALICE MIZER.

My Father’s Day is obviously not like 小悪魔ヘヴン, in the least but it is an upbeat rock song.. What? You’d think it would be a sad sounding song, because of what happened. Apparently not, GACKT is literally saying in the song he will go on without crying or any doubts and that he will find him in the next world or the “Neo Universe” as he says in poor Engrish. And I honestly thought his English was getting better.. In a way this song is really heartbreaking, he states here that he will go along without looking back. At the end of this song he says, “Thank Dad” the first time I heard that I thought it was just the nicest thing, then I kind of thought about it.. It really hurts to loose someone you look up as an actor or a father figure. I really cherish this song, it is not only catchy and heart touching it really shows GACKT’s sensitive side we didn’t know he had XD.

4 out of 5

Apparently to my friend 小悪魔ヘヴン by itself would be a 7 out 5.. XD

I think this is a great first single out of the four he did for his 10th Anniversary, it really is different and highly RECOMMENDED. I liked this single out of other 3, it had eletro and rock. What more could you want besides the fact that it is GACKT and everyone wants that.. Yes, even the straight men. >:I

夏恋★夏GAME by An Cafe

1. 夏恋★夏GAME

2. ボクは側にいるから

Released on August 12, 2009 as An Cafe’s 18th single

夏恋★夏GAME, which translates to “Summer Love★Summer Game”, sounds like a cute summer love song right? Actually this song is about more than just love, it is about sex and love at first sight (kind of). I’m really surprised to find that out, usually Miku writes cute love songs and now he goes crazy with his perverted thoughts XD. Other than that being the main theme, this song appears upbeat and lively like their other singles and reflects summer in a new way. I enjoy the chorus more than anything else in this song, and although it is perverted it is an major step up and a great experimentation for An Cafe I’m at least happy they are trying new things. Still a great first track on this single.

夏恋★夏GAME by An Cafe

夏恋★夏GAME (C-Type) by An Cafe

ボクは側にいるから is quite the opposite of 夏恋★夏GAME, it is less pop-like. The begining of ボクは側にいるから is smooth and flows nicely in, then it turns pop-rock and upbeat like the regular An Cafe songs<3. It is strange to have this song on here with a song like 夏恋★夏GAME, it sounds less summer-like and more serious, but it seems to really balance the two themes, 夏恋★夏GAME = summer and sexy times, ボクは側にいるから = love and protection. Another wonderful and fun love ballad, I wonder where Miku gets these strong feelings from to write so many love ballads that are sweet. I enjoyed this one the best out of the two, it has that odd An Cafe flair and ボクは側にいるから stands out on this single.

夏恋★夏GAME (B-Type) by An Cafe

There are three versions of this single which kind of seems unnecessary for only a two song single. XD The A-Type comes with the DVD for the PV of 夏恋★夏GAME, which is rather fun. The B-Type comes with a DVD of a live proformance, sadly the C-Type is only the two songs. What rip off. XD

4 out of 5

It is a fun and new style An Cafe has brought, I enjoyed the feel of this single it is about summer and love. The major things An Cafe is about, I still think I didn’t need to know An Cafe was going.. dirty.. I kind of think of them as innocent. XD This is definitely worth a listen.

1. elite STAR+

3. 夢現Light

Released on July 8, 2009 as THE KIDDIE’s sixth maxi single

elite STAR+ is like THE KIDDIE’S pervious single, NOAH; it starts out joyful with the repeating beat of a guitar and then sweet Yusa-sama’s voice enters, I’m going to be serious about his voice.. It is the greatest singing voice I have ever heard.. *-* Unlike NOAH, elite STAR is smooth and this song flows along, which helps the theme beneath the music, this song is about finding  your true happiness in the world and how to create a better connection with people around you to unite as one. Altogether is is a great intro to this single hopefully leading up to their first album, elite STAR+ is enjoyable and upbeat on every note, but the only thing that is odd for THE KIDDIE to insert in this song is the bridge of light rap.. It doesn’t really hurt the song, it just sounds weird to through into a song about unity.

THE+KIDDIE

SMD is THE KIDDIE’s first hard rock song, it kicks off with a hardcore beat which immediately has my attention. SMD could either mean, Soft Metal Damashi or Soft Metal Deception, in this case I think it think it is the second acronym. The lyrics of this song are as the music indicates, meaning this song is about being hurt by someone Yusa loves and he has been the one who has taken all the blame for their crimes, but Yusa is tired of being treated in that manor. When listening to this, I got that upset and angry feeling of the song which is good it adds to the emotion Yusa was bringing. Even though he really doesn’t change the tone in his voice, until the slow bridge sounding like he was done with the pain brought by this person. SMD isn’t as upbeat as elite STAR+ but it is a great change for them, I’m glad they are expiramenting with their sound.

夢現Light is only on the B-Type version of Elite STAR+, I kind of hate they put an extra song on the B-Type, everytime. 夢現Light is another expiramention song, they play around with sounds and rather strange voices.. which reminded me of An Cafe’s NYAPPY IN THE WORLD 4 ~theme to Hannyaism~. Looking at the lyrics 夢現Light seems to be about finding passion in others and wanting their light to shine upon yourself.  Although it has a strange voice in the bridge, it is upbeat and catchy with a pop beat as its intro and leads throughout the song. This song is like their other singles, but with a new twist definately worth a listen.

4 out of 5

Definitely another great maxi single by THE KIDDIE and is RECOMMENDED. I’m really am happy with the new sounds they put they into this, somethings about this single were really questionable, but all in and all I enjoyed these 3 tracks.  I’m sure in about a year or so they will have out their first album in which I’m really anticipating it. *is not a fangirl* XD

Don’t ask about the first part of this PV, it is strange and very perverted..XD

Released on February 18, 2009 as Kanon’s first major album.

Mana-sama (Moi dix Mois, ex MALICE MIZER) composed the music for the album, making the concept of each song  sound like an amusement park in Europe. In which I agree with the whole concept, every piece in this album has a nice dark, fun and European sound to it he has captured that effect quite well.

The album begins with sweet ticket, a smooth and calming cello draws in soon followed up by a drum. Which gave the intro to the album a marching band feel to it, another affect added to this track was the tune of “Suna no Oshiro” lightly in the background making it sound more like a carnival like Mana had envisioned. Soon  the tune of “Suna no Oshiro” turns into a strange choir sounding like they came off of a Danny Elfman score >:I The track was very relaxing and a fun to listen to, it kind of puts you in a trance and makes you want to sleep. So don’t listen to at night XD

I love how 真紅のフェータリズムintros with the sound of the cello, making it seem like very dark and the sound makes it feel like the color of the title (Crimson Fatalism). Along with the cello, a dark beat kicks up the feeling making the song more meaningful. Kanon’s unique voice helps carry out the darkness of the song, and lets it flow along l_p1013728098with the beat and cello. The mood I felt while listening to this song was empty, like someone was trying to keep you away from the world or you were keeping something from someone. Another mood swing to this album.

鏡 is a change from dark to light from the last track, this song plays the theme of fairytales. 鏡 is about Snow White, and how grotesque the world truly is within the story. The song starts with a strange beat and intro of a cello and violin making it sound mysterious, Kanon lightened her voice in this song giving more of a innocent touch kind of like a whisper. The chorus is amazingly catchy to me, you will find yourself singing it at times for no reason like Kanon got into your head somehow from Japan.. This track is fun and energetic, although it is really isn’t a happy song but it makes you feel that way with all the sounds throw out there.

still doll is song Kanon is well-known for, this version of still doll starts out with Kanon weakly singing the chorus of the song.  Even if that part of the song is changed, the same feel flows from this song dark and vampire-like. Another beautiful cello solo keeps this song interesting and unique, Kanon lowers her voice and holds the notes of the song to keep the edge still doll represents. Soon this song kind of turns creepy when Kanon repeats saying, “Hi Miss Alice” makes her sound like a pedo, but over all this song is insanely addictive to listen to and like 鏡, you will find yourself singing the chorus.

The tone of マボロシ is also cheerful, but really this song is about Kanon being an illusion and not truly being there only a figment of imagination. Which is rather sad, the music makes you think otherwise. The sweet orchestrated sound and the sound of a xylophone begin as the intro. Yes people, I’m serious, for once there is a song with a xylophone! >:I  In a way, Kanon’s voice does hint a bit of sadness but the way she sounds next to the music makes it seem like it is a happy Kodak moment. This is one of my favorite songs by Kanon, it is very catchy and upbeat and it holds a lot of meaning behind the music, I find myself singing the ending chorus a lot.

If you ever look at the lyrics for アンニュイ気分!, you’ll wonder what the hell Kanon is actually talking about… I thought she was being random, but she is actually talking about the feeling of boredom and how it makes you think about random things. So in a way, the crack lyrics make since. It is odd how this song begins, the sound of birds chripping outside then a cat meows at the sound of water running and then a phone begins to ring. The intro reminds me of Ringo Shiinkanonwakeshima_1242153686a’s albums.. To follow up on the strange intro is the sounds of bubbles popping, but a cute beat in the background makes the bubble noises less noticeable. Kanon’s voice is kind of poor in some parts of this song, when she makes that whiny voice for no reason, even though she is trying to emphasize she is totally bored out of her mind.. But it really hurts to listen to, some people might mistake the noise for something else.. XD This is not my favorite song, but it is fun sometimes to listen to.

砂のお城 is another song Kanon is known for, but not her most popular song. Castle of Sand is the English title for the song, which makes you think it is all about sand castles.. Not really, if you think deeper about it  this song is about being the sand and slowly flying away with time. Which probably makes you think this song is dull and boring, in which is the wrong answer. 砂のお城 is a dark and eery song, the cello is the main part of the song it repeats the same notes in the background making it feel like something is about to build up. A heavy echoing beat makes the song feel like it is dragging you along, the only really annoying part about this song is how Kanon makes her voice weak and quite at the beginning like she was singing her last song.. The song and Kanon would be better off if she didn’t do that, I know she is imitating the feeling of drifting away, but it ruins the feel of the whole intro and let alone the song.

Again Kanon uses sounds to start a song, Monochrome frame has the sounds of the ocean and seagulls making you picture the scene is suppose to be on a beach. I like this idea she went with, it helps explain the songs meaning. With the name Monochrome frame, it makes you think it is going to be a slow song.. It just happens to be very slow and melancholy, the song is meant to be this way Kanon is singing about how the memories of a lover are painful to think about and wants to be drown in the dark blue ocean. The sounds of song are clear, the violin makes the theme of melancholy expand. These sounds make me feel pain and sorrow of the past, but I don’t think I want to drown in the ocean over it.

L’espoir ~魔法の赤い糸~, for those of you that don’t speak either Japanese or French the title in English translates to The Hope ~ Red Thread of Magic~ , so is it about sewing? Strangely, this song is about how Kanon wishes to trap the man she loves with a cherry flavored string and keeping him as a slave to fall into her charm  XD Sounds like another episode of Bewitched or some bad magician in Vegas. I like the sound of that, really it is cute. Her voice at the beginning sounds childish and playful because she is saying she wants him to fall for her and be sneaky about it, don’t mistake it as unprofessional. Throughout the song it is upbeat and lively, with the reoccurring sound of the beloved cello, it makes the song seem happy but in a bittersweet sense of happy.

黒い鳥籠 is the very opposite of L’espoir ~魔法の赤い糸~,  dark and harsh sounding. This is a hard song for me to get into since, Kanon’s voice is yet again too hard to actually stay with the song and listen. Although her voice is deep and sounds in pain, that is meant for the feeling of the song and she is getting into it. 黒い鳥籠 is about being trapped in a cage like a bird with no escap30d44e62280100_fulle, and struggling against the world. After the beginning part of the song, it became easier to listen to, the sounds of the it are enjoyable and seem to guide the true feelings of no escape. Not really my favorite song, but it does have a catchy chorus which makes up for it.

skip turn step♪ is the best track on this album, it is a happy and sweet song about dancing outside when it begins to rain. That is something most of us can relate to, I’ve been outside in the rain dancing in and out of the puddles it is the better way to spend  a rainy day, rather than inside.  The track begins with a light sound of the harpsichord and sounds of the cello, suddenly turning into a orchestra. When Kanon begins to sing, the cello follows along with a violin and then a piano. Capturing the true beauty of the rain, the chorus the second time around is the main reason to really stay into the song it turns into something unexpected and is the liveliest track on the album and it isn’t about suicide 8′D

The second to the last track is 白い心, like 鏡 it follows the fairytale theme, but instead of one fairytale Kanon mixes all of the classics together into one song. The beginning of the song sounds sad and gives the imagery of snow falling on the ground, the piano plays a big part within the song giving the tone of great despair and sadness. You may wonder why it sounds that way if it is about fairytales, 白い心 is about not wanting to ruin others’ happiness and being in the way of what they wish, also not being selfish and becoming heartless to others. Being pure of heart is the true theme besides the fairytales. Expect a sad feeling when listening, it isn’t as upbeat as skip turn step♪, it is almost like a ballad.

sweet dreams is the final track to Kanon’s album, instead of cellos as the main instrument her final song is a music box.  Like sweet ticket it carries the same tune, but in a sadder way like it is ending forever. This music box is a bipolar sounding, filled with sorrow and suddenly filled with great joy, but in a way endings are always looked at in both perspectives, the best of both.

3 out 5

It is a great album for Kanon’s first, it shows she is dedicated to working with her music,  even if she tries to change her voice to match the sounds.. XD She really is talented and needs to work at a few things, but she’ll get there.
